Joshua 2:11

The Lord your God is indeed God in heaven above and on earth below. Joshua 2:11

This was the observation of Rahab as she hid the two men of the children of Israel from the wrath of the king of Jericho. She recounted how the children of Israel had crossed the Red Sea and their protection from the Amorites. (See Exod.14; Num.21:21-35) She had observed GodÂ’s powerful intervention with his people and evidently had carefully assessed it. Hence she could proclaim that their Lord was God indeed. Therefore, even as an outsider, she was confident of GodÂ’s power. And so she called on these men to invoke that power for her benefit and as a reward for her kindness.

Do you have such confidence today? Can you, too, say that the Lord is God indeed? Surely you have seen the goodness of the Lord. You have benefitted from such goodness. There will be challenges in this life. Even Jesus faced challenges whilst he lived on earth. But as we reflect on his life we see that he overcame. Similarly, you too can ‘stand still and see the salvation of the Lord’ as Moses told the children of Israel when God was about to take them to the other side of the Red Sea.

Prayer:
Lord, in this season of reflection, help us to see your power and might as we recount the stories of the life of Christ on earth. Therefore may we be able to proclaim that you are Lord indeed. Amen.
