EACH PART MUST DO ITS PART!

In many Sunday Schools this time of the year is filled with the staging of Christmas pageants and plays. The successful staging of Christmas programs requires lots of planning. Apart from the Sunday School programs, community and church choirs have spent hours in rehearsals trying to get their notes right and making sure that they have the correct dynamic for their Christmas music. In the same way, the musical Christmas programs can be very demanding. But when all of the programs are over and the applause of the audience has died down, those who would have sung or recited have the satisfaction of knowing that they did a great job pronouncing the message of this season. A Christmas play, pageant or concert involves many persons. But each one has a special PART and when each person does his/her PART then all of the other PARTS ultimately benefit. One of the messages of Christmas is simply this: EACH PART MUST DO ITS PART! And thatÂ’s todayÂ’s FF: EACH PART MUST DO ITS PART!

It is when EACH PART does ITS PART that everything goes as planned. The Sovereign God had a PART for so many different persons in order for the coming of Christ to be realized. Zechariah and Elizabeth had a PART to play in coming together to ensure the birth of John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Messiah. MaryÂ’s PART was to accept that God had chosen her, a virgin, to be the one who would be conceived by the Holy Spirit and give birth to the Son of God. God too had a PART for Joseph for he was given the awesome responsibility to raise the Son of God and help him to become the son of man. Even angels had a PART to play. For they were the messengers of God who were sent to bring divine announcements so that human beings could embrace the PART that God had assigned them. The shepherds, as the outcast of the society then, were given a PART too. The inn keeper who redirected Mary and Joseph to the best accommodation that he could offer also had his PART. For that first Christmas EACH PART did ITS PART!

The ways of God are beyond our human comprehension. Isn’t it absolutely amazing how God orchestrates people and situations to accomplish God’s purposes and plans? But the challenge for us is that often times God only allows us to see our PART and not always the bigger picture. Our limited human vision does not allow us to step back and have as it were a panoramic view of the whole story. And so it takes faith on our PART to do the PART that God has assigned to us. And here’s the miracle and wonder of it all. It is when we EACH do our PART that the other PARTS also get to do theirs. This should cause us to realize that in the Kingdom of God, we’re all working together to achieve the one goal – reconciling humanity to God.

And so as you celebrate the joy and blessedness of this Christmas season, realize that in the ongoing drama of life that God has given you a special PART. ItÂ’s a PART that only you can play. It was created just for you. But on the stage of life there are others whom God has also given a PART. Pray for others that as they do their PART that they will be faithful. But at the same time, ask God to give you all the strength that you need to do your PART. For it is when EACH PART does ITS PART that the world will know for sure that God became flesh. Emmanuel has come! Merry Christmas to all from my family to yours!
