Â…And To Walk Humbly With God!

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

The Lord’s requirement of us is what is good. Nothing less is being asked for. To live a life in pursuit of justice and mercy can be time consuming and demands everything one has to give. Many however will happily do this with no remorse because it gives a good feeling to do justice and to be kind. Often we become so focused on the justice and kindness aspects of service that we totally forget or neglect the final part of Micah’s statement. ‘and walk humbly with God’. The importance of this part of the statement can be so easily overlooked. Some may see it as separate and apart from the rest of it, as something else that you do.

The fact is that this is what gives direction and purpose to what you do. The pursuit of justice and mercy is very often done oblivion to the humble walk. When this is done it becomes justice and mercy that is self-serving and self-satisfying, often leading to self-praise. How easy we forget what it means to walk humbly with God. It is because of the humble walk that we are able to do justice and love kindness according to GodÂ’s will.

Friends, God calls us to act out of justice and kindness to those around us. Your words and actions may be just the hope that someone was searching for. In your humility your actions will point other to Christ, the source of all gifts. That is what the humble walk with God will produce in you. Those who see you will see Christ at work in and through you. So as you serve those around you, do it in love and Godly humility, with justice and mercy as the standard and God as your source of strength. In so doing, you will show someone what Jesus Christ was like when he was on earth. In Philippians 2:5, Paul wrote: In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. The Christ-like mind is not in structures, it is in you guiding you daily. May your Christ-like relationship with others be brought out in your Godly walk.

Till next Tuesday, be blessed!
