Let Others Know That You Know!

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89: 1

Psalm 89 is attributed to Ethan the Ezrahite. Ethan is a good name, meaning strong and optimistic, solid and enduring, one who will stay the whole course or who will always be there, the strong one. By the time of Solomon he had gained a reputation as a wise and Godly man. Only Solomon was reputed to be wiser than Ethan. [1 Kings 4: 31 For he was wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite]. I believe that this was the grandson of Judah, in 1 Chr. 2. He is listed among his brothers as wise men. It is fitting friends that this wise, godly man, whose name described him as one who was dependable, would point to God as faithful and steadfast.

We know today that God is a faithful God because of the experiences we have had along our Christian journey as well as the many passages of the Bible that point to this. When we say God is faithful, we mean that God will honor GodÂ’s words because God is dependable, trustworthy and constant. We can depend on God to fulfill all the promises He makes towards us. Unfaithfulness has become a common ground for broken relationships in todayÂ’s world, but with God we never have to worry about that. GodÂ’s love never changes, even when we change. No wonder Ethan declares his intent to tell everyone about this. He wanted everyone to know the message the Church proclaims today, that God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. [1 Cor. 1: 9]. In these times when it is hard to find someone to trust, God can be trusted. Do you know of a promise in the Bible that God broke? I donÂ’t! Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses. 1 Kings 8: 56.

Friends, the best response we can give to the faithfulness of God, is faith in God. This is the PsalmistÂ’s response. He writes a hymn to be sung which expresses his trust in GodÂ’s faithfulness and declares this for all to hear. His faith is expressed for others to hear. Why not express your faith and trust in God in ways that others may partake in? It may be a song, devotion, or prayer; something that proclaims to everyone GodÂ’s love and faithfulness and your faith. Let others know that you know.

Till next Tuesday, be blessed!
