Exodus 20:16

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour. Exodus 20:16

“Do no sinful action,
Speak no angry Word;
Ye belong to Jesus
Children of the Lord.”

Words should never be spoken lightly. The soothing word gives encouragement, unlike the unkind word which pierces the heart.

The Word of God informs us that we must give an account for every word that is spoken. This is true, so why do we try to demean and belittle people with words? Why do we try to destroy the character of persons, often with information that is untrue?
We are bearing false witness when we pass on information that is untrue.
We are lying about the person.

Ephesians 4:29 not only tells us to stop lying, but that we should say good things about people, so as to edify and build up their character instead of destroying it.

“Ye are new-born Christians
Ye must learn to fight
With the bad within you
And to do the right.”

How many times we use words that we regret we had used; but words cannot be taken back no matter how much we apologize.

May our words in the future change lives and encourage others. Each word is a gift from God. This is a great gift to give to others as we celebrate GodÂ’s great gift of love to us.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, let my mouth be your mouthpiece to spread your Word; to speak the truth when it needs to be spoken. Help us to remember your promise to never leave or forsake us. Embolden us when we are timid and defend us when we are fearful. Moreover, you have commanded that we live peaceably with all people where possible. May we live according to your Word, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
