Joel 2:28

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Joel 2:28

When Francis heard that Heather was returning to Weymouth to lead the hockey team, she felt anger and hatred towards Heather. The memory of HeatherÂ’s behavior was etched in her mind, although she would have rather forgotten it all. Heather had made a fool out of Francis. She had made her wait in the park for hours, for a meeting which Heather knew was really slated for the club house. Heather had even tried to play team members against Francis in order to get her own way and make Francis look bad in the eyes of the team. Heather was envious of FrancisÂ’ kind disposition.

After these events Heather had been transferred to another district. Francis decided to attend church regularly and to accept Christ as her personal Savior. Francis wanted to serve God, to follow His teachings and be a witness of GodÂ’s power. But how could she do all this when Heather was back in town and up to her old tricks?

In Joel 2: 28, Joel prophesies about the end times. He speaks about the pouring out of the Spirit by God upon all flesh, sons and daughters prophesying and old men having visions. The times here which the prophet refers to resemble these times in which we are currently living. We see that Francis as a Christian has difficulty serving God – that is, showing his love and forgiveness. Francis needs to exercise God’s Spirit through constant prayer and study of His word. He will give her the spiritual gift according to her need to enhance her ability to serve Him fully – to live out his love and forgiveness. As Francis continues to utilize her spiritual gifts she could give testimony of how God has worked in her life. The very essence of this Advent Season could teach us all to follow God's example of love and forgiveness.

Prayer:
Come, Lord Jesus, come Christ into my heart. Let your spirit illumine my dark thoughts and turn them into light. Let your spirit of forgiveness re-open the door to others. Let your spirit of purity cleanse me from grudges and bitterness. Let your spirit of power and love reign in my heart, and in this world. Amen.
