GodÂ’s Wisdom Gives Us Confidence!

Do as the occasion demands; for God is with you. 1 Samuel 10:7 (NKJV)

Life has many crossroads and everyone must at times approach them. What we do there, how we proceed through these crossroads is very important to our faith journey. In this chapter, Samuel anoints Saul as king over Israel and gives him instructions on good governance. Part of this is good decision making. Saul is encouraged to follow the leading of his heart in making decisions of governance. This he can do without worrying because God is with him. He had just received the signs from Samuel that would assure him of GodÂ’s hand upon him, and all had gone just as Samuel had said. The fact is that things will always go according to GodÂ’s word. We just have to learn to trust God. We trust God by moving forward or pressing on in faith, knowing that because God is our guide, we will be kept on the right path.

So, when at your crossroad, or your moment of decision, remember, you can move forward in confidence, you can make that decision in confidence because God is with you. GodÂ’s presence is promised to the followers of Jesus today. In Matt. 28: 20 Jesus promised His followers that He would be with them to the end of time. With the presence comes the wisdom of God. GodÂ’s wisdom is unsurpassed and infinite. We never have to make even an educated guess because God gives us the wisdom needed for the moment. GodÂ’s wisdom gives us confidence. We can live in certainty that we are where we ought to be and are doing what we are to do. We can be assured that our decisions, even when they may not go down well with others, are well made because of the presence of God in the process.

There is a caution in all of this however. We are reminded in the doctrinal text not to seek our own. Do not seek your own advantage, but that of the other. 1 Corinthians 10:24. The challenge is to live for others rather than for self, modeling our lives off the life of Jesus. It is in living for others that we find true satisfaction for ourselves. As we go through another week, let your faith guide you to trust God in your decision making, always mindful of GodÂ’s presence and wisdom, and the confidence we have because of them.

‘Till next Tuesday, be blessed!
