Pray For You, Pray For Me!
O save your people, and bless your heritage;
be their shepherd, and carry them forever. Psalm 28: 9
Psalm 28 is a prayer of David, said to be of significance to those who are surrounded by troubling situations or people. The Psalmist realizes that the only real source of safety is God. We have instant access to God through prayer, making prayer the best available help for GodÂ’s people when we are going through our trials. The child of God is kept in communication and thus communion with God through prayer.

The Psalmist prays that God will not allow him to fall to the plots of the wicked who pretend to be one thing but are really something else. He places his security in the hands of God, calling upon God to reward the wicked according to their wickedness. Friends we too are surrounded so often by wolves in sheepÂ’s clothing. We could spend our entire lives trying to figure out who is who, and create a few enemies along the way. On the other hand we could take a page from DavidÂ’s book and depend on God to deal with such persons in our lives.
Our text represents the peace of mind David found when he prayed and the Holy Spirit gave him the assurance of answered prayer. Knowing that his situation was being dealt with, David prayed for GodÂ’s salvation on His people. When our personal requests are being handled by God, it is easy to pray for the salvation of others. We can however be so busy praying for others that our situations get neglected. Whenever this happens we are unable to pray for others as we ought to. Yes friends, others need the Lord, but never forget, you need Him too. Pray for yourself, so that you can pray effectively for others.
Till next Tuesday, be blessed!
