His Word: A Burning Fire In My Heart

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire. Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)
How can anyone called by the Lord, ever withhold his/her tongue from declaring what the Lord has put in his/her heart? Jeremiah is an inspiration for the Church throughout the ages and still is today. When the priest Pashhur had Jeremiah beaten and locked up, the prophet felt humiliated and deceived by God who led him to prophesy and exposed him to such feats. He was now contemplating whether to quit prophesying or to continue in spite of all that he was going through. "Then I said, I will not mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name. But His word was in my heart like a burning fire..."

This is powerful revelation, this is to be in the irresistible presence of the Most High; you feel like quitting but you cannot; His presence inspire you to ask To whom shall I go, you have what I need, your word is what my heart yearns to declare, I believe it, I can see the fulfillment of it, I just cannot hold my speech no matter what the people of this world may say I am going to be faithful to my calling. What a word? That is where I would like to be most of the time in my ministry. Is this where you would desire to be in your walk with God? Looking back at Wednesday's reflection as God delegated the priests to bless the people, here we see Jeremiah exercising authority to curse priest Pashhur who was a lying prophet. When God calls you, even when it does not appear so, He will equip you, he will guard and guide you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Go on; Go forward; Go upward in the Lord.

And every day in the temple and at home they did not cease to teach and proclaim Jesus as the Messiah. Acts 5:42We are dealing with spiritual warfare in the Body of Christ and the soldiers of Christ must enter the battle field with the consciousness and resilience of a soldier. Here we encounter the apostles of Christ expressing pride and joy to suffer for Christ and for the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is as if they were making up for their denial, betrayal and forsaking of Jesus at the crucifixion. And now that they have seen how this part of the mystery unfolded they have confidence in the future and was willing to do all they could to spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Have you noticed where the opposition to the Gospel came from almost unabated; the religious authorities; this time the Sanhedrin. Yes that is connection I wish to make that sometimes our greatest opposition to the spread of the Gospel comes from among religious people.

The apostle stood as soldiers of the cross and are models for the Church to follow. Take you stand for the Gospel and for Jesus Christ always and do not look back.

The Lord bless you and keep you always.
