God's Promise

The Lord will not cast away his people, for his great name’s sake. 1 Samuel 12:22Humans ought not to try negotiating with God what are the standards to live by. Difficult as it may appear to some, God sets the standards and we ought to obey them. Israel insisted on having things their way by asking for a human personality as king . God allowed them to have what they asked for; however when this backfired they thought God and Samuel would turn against them. They learned- God is not fetish, or governed by moods and attitudes; instead He remains God constantly. Samuel put before them and us the faithfulness and compassion of God. For His name ‘s sake (His Spiritual nature and character) God will always be merciful. Trust Him and serve Him. He sets the standards, we obey them.

The promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him. Acts 2:39 When we consider the congregation gathered together at that time, we can safely conclude say the Holy Spirit intend this promise to be all inclusive for Jews and non-Jews. As the mission evolved it became more obvious that God speaks and acts impartially and without favouritism.
The standards set here to become a believer in Jesus Christ and experience salvation apply to all: ”…repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of the Lord Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit v38.” This applies to present and future generations. Amen!
Blessings!!!!
