God Chose You

Israel, you are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off. Isaiah 41:9This is a promise of deliverance and restoration to those living in captivity against their will. The feeling that they had been abandoned by God was part of their thinking. Here the prophet declares a word of hope that contrary to what they may be thinking, God, their God will come and deliver them from their captures and restore them to their own land. The condition of captivity could manifest itself in slavery, apartheid, imprisonment, addiction, refugee and living in exile. As children of God/Christians we can listen to the message of the prophet and take consolation, for the God we serve is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit. John 15:16 This is an amazing reality that God is the One who has taken the initiative to choose us to become a part of His family. The text [points to the absolute necessity to stay connected to Christ if we are to become productive. The truth is- Christ expects us to be productive and bear fruit. It would appear that our role is defined, that we abide in Christ and be faithful to His word and trust God for the increase. Implicit in the text is the note of privilege and honour to be called and chosen by God to partner with God in harvesting souls for His Kingdom.
We must cherish this honour and be faithful.

Blessings !!! Bishop Clarke
