Let There Be Praise!

All the nations you have made shall come and bow down before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. Psalm 86: 9

Psalm 86 is a prayer of David to God in which he declares his unending trust in God, even, or I should say especially, in times of deepest distress or trouble. There are times in life when our troubles or pain is so great that all we can do is cry out to God, ‘guard my life’ [v2]. Truth however is that there will be times when there will be no relief in sight. During such times all we can do is acknowledge the greatness of God and in godly inspired patience, wait for better days. Our experiences of answered prayers will keep us during such moments.

In today’s text David looks ahead to the time when all nations shall bow before God in praise. This will take place in the Millennium. As in the rest of the Psalm, there is a reason for this united praise by the nations of the earth. ‘For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.’ Ps. 86: 10.
Dear friends, our God is unique, and his uniqueness resounds throughout the Bible. ‘There is none like you, O Lord’, v 8. The God of the Bible is alive and able to do mighty things for those who love and trust Him. There are many gods in this world that have been created by human minds. Such gods are powerless and impersonal. Jehovah alone is ‘worthy to receive glory and honor and power’ Rev. 4: 11. The Psalmist assures us that in this world of many gods, there is no need to worry that Jehovah is one among many others, or that we may be worshipping the wrong God. There is but one true God who the entire world will one day bow before and acknowledge for who He is. Have you acknowledged Him as the Lord of your life as yet? If not, why not? Why wait? I encourage you, do it now.

Make today then, a day of praise to God. Praise Him for who He is, for what He has done, and for what He will do. Praise Him for He alone is God and is deserving of our praise. Praise Him because he always comes through for us, never giving us more than we can bear. Praise Him because He is a God who is not afraid to become personal with His people, coming to us in our time of need [Jn. 14: 18]. Praise Him because He is the God who gave the ultimate love sacrifice for our redemption [Jn 3: 16]. Praise Him because your blessing, your breakthrough, is sure and secure. You may have to wait a while, but it will come to you on GodÂ’s timing which is always right.

What a mighty God we serve! Angels bow before Him; heaven and earth adore Him; what a mighty God we serve!

May your praises go up and your blessings come down, today and always. Amen.

Till next Tuesday, be blessed.
