A Soft Answer

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1

These are words of wisdom. And in real everyday life it is a prescription for a more gentle, respectful and ordered society. However to the aggressive and quarrelsome, they enter one ear and go through the other without any effect at all. As people of God let us follow this principle reduce anger.

In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Ephesians 4:26

The apostle Paul, in what appears to be a quote from Psalm 4.4 provides another way of viewing anger as an emotion that is not necessarily bad. You can be angry at the acts of injustice, immorality or other evil practices. As Christians and God fearing person we should never become comfortable with sin and evil. But he cautions- do not let your anger leads you to sin. Jesus Christ is our example he knew how to be angry and not sin.

Blessings!

Bishop Clarke.
