1 Chronicles 29:12

O Lord, it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all. 1 Chronicles 29:12

We have seen, over the past week, much which establishes this thought as an assurance. In fact, going back to the Lenten Season and the temptations of Christ we see God’s ability to sustain the tempted. We have seen the faith of the centurion, who could declare, “Truly, this was the Son of God’. We saw the faith of the malefactor hanging on the cross beside him. This man was moved to ask for special consideration of him who he considered to be a righteous man. There was the faith of the women who could go to the tomb to care for his body, but who instead discovered his resurrection and were given this message for his people.
Following the resurrection we note the faith which was evoked in Thomas when he finally saw the risen Lord and declared, “My Lord and my God”. We later note Jesus’ grace to Peter by allowing him opportunity to declare his love for Christ following his great denial. Finally, we hear him tell the disciples, “. . . and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20), and “. . . tarry ye in Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). Indeed, he makes great, and gives strength to all.

Prayer:
“Lord God, may you be praised forever and ever! You are great and powerful, glorious, splendid and majestic. Everything in heaven and earth is yours, and you are king, supreme ruler over all. All riches and wealth come from you; you rule everything by your strength and power; and you are able to make anyone great and strong. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and we praise your glorious name.” (1 Chron.29:10-13 ) Amen.
