DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?

Whatever you REALLY BELIEVE impacts you so much that without realizing it everything about your life reflects that belief. Because you REALLY BELIEVE the law of gravity you expect that if you throw a ball in the air that it will come back down and so you position yourself to catch it. Because we REALLY BELIEVE that airplanes are safe we fly from one place to the next not thinking that anything will go wrong. We REALLY BELIEVE that a certain political leader or party will make a world of difference and so we vote for them. Somehow our core beliefs are ultimately expressed in our actions. And so on this Good Friday as we consider the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I ask us all to consider this question DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?

No one reading these words is a stranger to the Christian gospel. We know about Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. Even some of us might have even participated in Christmas plays while we were younger. We know about the miracles of Jesus – healing the blind, opening deaf ears, brining the dead back to life, saving the lost. We’ve listened to numerous sermons about what it means to live as a Christian. We’ve attended various Church services – weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations. Some may have grown up in Church all our lives and know the hymns of the faith and all the latest worship songs. We dress the part, look the part, play the part. We may have perfected all that comes with the territory called ‘Christianity’ but the question still remains DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE in Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE that the wages of sin is death? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE that Christ died so that you may have freedom from sinÂ’s power in your life? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE the Holy Spirit empowers us to live the Christ-life? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE that when we abide in Christ and He in us that whatever we pray for and do not doubt we will receive? DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE all that the Bible says from Genesis to Revelation?

The longer I live, somehow the more IÂ’m convinced that not all who say they BELIEVE REALLY BELIEVE. If YOU REALLY BELIEVE then there would not be a conflict between what we BELIEVE and how we live. If more would REALLY BELIEVE then our Churches will be full, not with the religious but the converted. If more would REALLY BELIEVE then they would not be ashamed to witness to friends and strangers. If more would REALLY did BELIEVE then churches would not have to stage fund raisers to balance their budget. If every member, in every church, in every place, REALLY BELIEVE then this world will covered with the Gospel 24/7. Today see this as a personal word for you as I see it as a personal word for me too. I throw those words in my face as I also set them before you: DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?

If so, then letÂ’s live like if we REALLY BELIEVE and see our world impacted for God. We pray: Lord I REALLY BELIEVE. Help my unbelief. Have a blessed Easter.
