The Lord Bless You

Watchword: The Lord bless you and keep you...
Numbers 6.24
This part of what is referred to as Aaronic Benediction. Aaron the brother of Moses was appointed Priest. God revealed Himself to Aaron and gave to him a blessing for the people of Israel, especially in a solemn assembly. Aaron was simply a channel through whom God, Himself would bless the nation. It put Aaron into very coveted and privileged position to be called and chosen by God to invoke divine blessing on the people. Servants of God who are called, ordained and set apart stand in the place of Aaron today, to pronounce God’s blessing. To be blessed is to experience divine grace and favour on your life and other interests. “The Lord bless you and keep you...”
Doctrinal Text from the New Testament
Christ says, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever. St John 6. 51a
This is one of the ‘I AM’ sayings of Jesus- The Christ ,which generated much controversy and in fact caused many to turn away from following Jesus. Why? They refused to acknowledge Him as The Messiah and that He had the authority to deliver on His promises and was all that He claimed to be. The doubted Jesus. To receive the blessing from God you must believe that He is and that Jesus Christ came from heaven to redeem the world. Mortals need such faith to worship God effectively. In an age where people are pre-occupied with their material security, it is good to know that the bread which Jesus provides, the word of wisdom coming from Him is available to allow the believer to live for ever.
Records: Break thou the bread of life dear Lord to me---
