AVOID DISTRACTIONS
Hello All
A few days ago, practically the whole world was watching history being made in Washington DC. Some only wanted to hear Barack Obama utter about 35 words to become the next president of the USA. No matter where we were, for those few seconds nobody wanted to have any DISTRACTIONS. EveryoneÂ’s attention and focus was centered on a radio or television. No one wanted to miss out on this moment. We wanted to AVOID DISTRACTIONS. ThatÂ’s our FF for today.

To be distracted is to have your train of thought interrupted; it is to be diverted; to be disturbed if you will; it is to not pay attention to whatÂ’s important at the moment. DISTRACTIONS can be deadly. A distracted driver on the road can lead to a terrible accident. A distracted air traffic controller can lead to havoc for planes in the air or on the ground. Because of the likely consequences, it is good to do all in our power to AVOID DISTRACTIONS.
AVOID DISTRACTIONS
In the Church – time is too short and there’s too much to do in God’s Kingdom.
In your home – it’s a fight to keep your family stable and strong.
In your academic pursuits – strive to be the best and to be all that God intends for you.
In your career goals – the favour of God will position you beyond your expectations.
In your spiritual walk – the devil can derail our journey by having us major in the minor.
In your life – determine the purpose of God for you and enthusiastically pursue it.
The surest antidote to help us AVOID DISTRACTIONS is to stay focused. We must be on the ball - fully alert - vigilant - remain always watchful. It is easy to be distracted and to waste time and energy in non-essentials. The devil may not tempt us to blatantly sin against God but he can certainly keep us busy by not doing what Christ has called us to do. When that happens, say what Jesus said to Peter, ‘get behind me satan.’
So today as you continue on the journey of life with God as your guide, I encourage you to AVOID DISTRACTIONS. Stay the course! And when there is the temptation to be distracted recall the two words which Jesus gave to us ‘watch and pray.’
Till next Friday, GodÂ’s willing, AVOID DISTRACTIONS.
