Genesis 12:2
The Lord said to Abram, “I will bless you and you will be a blessing.”  Genesis 12:2 (NIV)
Â
The blessings promised to Abram were many: A good reputation; a great nation through his descendants; blessings for his allies. However, they were preceded by a command from the Lord to gather his family, leave his home and proceed to a new land. Most would think this an arduous task for someone of seventy-five, but, without question or complaint, Abram obeyed. So steadfast was he that even when commanded to sacrifice his only son Isaac he obeyed, trusting that the Lord would guide his path and provide every need.Â
Prayer: O Lord God, who has called us, your servants, to paths yet untrodden and through perils yet unknown, give us strength to go out with courage, secure in the knowledge that Your hand is leading us and Your love is supporting us. Amen.
