Psalm 68:19

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens.   Psalm 68:19

Many of us lead very hectic lifestyles, rushing from meeting to meeting, from activity to activity.  For some of us the mere thought of the day’s activities makes us want to curl up in bed, go back to sleep and hope that the day’s burdens will all go away.  But as we know, this is just wishful thinking or is it?  God is well aware of our situation and our daily struggles and he wants to help us to get through them and come out victorious and better off than we were before.  God’s word is full of promises:

“When you pass through the water, I will be with you; When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you; And when you pass through the fire, you will not be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze.”   Isa. 43:2

Are we flooded with daily commitments and burdens which prevent us from enjoying life and communion with God?  I am the Lord, the God of all mankind.  Is anything too hard for me? (Jer 32:27)  God assures us that we are not alone in our daily struggles.  He cares about us and tells us to daily cast our cares upon him.  This promise reassures us that Jesus will daily bear our burdens because he loves us unconditionally.  This same Jesus who came to earth for us because he loved us!

Prayer:
Lord, when I am weary, discouraged or feel hopeless, I can still praise you because I know that I need only to look to you to refresh me, encourage me, and give me hope; for you will sustain me and preserve me.   Amen.
