Isaiah 62:3

You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. Isaiah 62:3

On April 29th this year the eye of the world will be set on the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in London. For sure it will be a grand and superb celebration. Later in life Prince William eventually will become king of the United Kingdom at another grand and superb celebration, his coronation, when the crown of England will be put on his head. The crown is the symbol of royal-highness and honour. The precious gold, the gems and jewels show the majesty of the king who wears the crown on his head, and the greatness of his kingdom. Annointed Service

Isaiah 61: 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me.

This is the first section of a verse which was later quoted in part by Jesus in Luke 4: 16 – 21. After reading from Isaiah Jesus told the people, [v 21] “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” The significance of this is that the ministry of Jesus was rooted in the Old Testament. He came under the anointing of God to carry out the redemption of all people. The Spirit was upon Him because of the anointing He had received. The anointing was to enable Him to bring about the redemption of mankind.

Isaiah 35:3

Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Isaiah 35:3

In this text we are reminded of a Glorious Kingdom, which the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will establish; his coming brings with it restoration, justice and peace, and the destroying of all evil. Only those who are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb can anticipate such a world after the judgement, when creation will rejoice in God!

Malachi 4:2

For you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. Malachi 4:2

Laurie-Ann was having a grand time, bobbing and weaving amidst the heavy human traffic hustling through the busy American airport. Her aunt was frantically trying to find a passenger willing to take on the responsibility of escorting the lively six year old safely back to the Caribbean.

Psalm 38:21

Do not forsake me, O Lord; O my God, do not be far from me. Psalm 38:21

Are you being wracked by illness today? Are you wondering why you must suffer such sorrow and tribulation? Do you think that perhaps God is displeased with you? Does it seem as if your friends have forgotten you? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you can identify with the Psalmist, David, who in the midst of a severe and painful illness, cries out in anguish ‘Do not forsake me, O Lord, O my God, do not be far from me.’ (Psalm 38:21)

Joel 3:16

The Lord is a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel. Joel 3:16

The King James Version of the Bible renders this verse as “But the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of Israel”. Longman’s Active Study Dictionary describes “Hope” as the feeling of wanting something to happen or be true and believing that it is possible. A “refuge” is a place where the safety of a person is not only longed for, but is actually a reality. It fulfils the hope of the ‘refugee’. We will therefore focus on the understanding of in this text.

HELP WITH THE UNWRAPPING!

Earlier this week I was listening to Dr. Tony Evans preaching on the radio when he made a point referred to Gospel account where Christ raised Lazarus from the dead. He noted that that even though Christ raised Lazarus by calling his name, Christ did not UNWRAP Lazarus from his burial cloths. Rather, he told those who were there at the tomb to do the UNWRAPPING. The Holy Spirit buried that seed in my heart. So for our FF today I want us to think about how we can all HELP WITH THE UNWRAPPING!

Job 33:28

He has redeemed my soul from going down to the pit, and my life shall see the light. Job 33:28

God speaks to us through trials, is He speaking to you today. Job 33:28 is telling you God rescues us from the grave so we may live in the light of the living.
Why? Do we deserve this? I say no, because like Job we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Isaiah 65:2

I held out my hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices. Isaiah 65:2

Whether we use the words rebellious, defiant or disloyal, it is clear in this verse that God was referring to a people that were stubborn and set in their ways. To be rebellious means that they once knew God as their truth, they once knew the right way to walk and treat their God, yet they choose to walk in a way that is contrary to God's wishes. The apostle Paul applies this to the Jews in his time;.

Through Christ Alone!

TodayÂ’s text comes from Isaiah 65: 2. I held out my hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices.

In Isaiah 65, God lets it be known that the time would come when other people, not just the Jews, would know Him as their God. In Romans 10: 20, Paul quotes verse 1of Isaiah 65, And Isaiah boldly says, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” In the Romans passage Paul points out that the other nations referred to are the gentiles. In the Isaiah passage, the Lord states that He has been reaching out to a non-responsive people. A people who do what they want with no thought of consequences. They were disobedient to His laws, worshipping idols, consulting with the dead and with evil spirits, and eating forbidden foods. The worst part of the Spiritual decadence or downfall of these people, was the fact that even in this state that they found themselves, they still thought they were far superior to the other people around them. Jesus encountered such persons during his earthly ministry and had harsh words for them. In Matt. 23: 13 – 36 we find the discourse that we have come to call the seven woes, or the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus calls to book, the religious teachers of the day who believed they were religiously superior to the people.

Psalm 40:5

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts towards us; non can compare with you. Psalm 40:5

David, writer of this Psalm, had truly experienced God multiplying his wondrous deeds. He had seen this in his daily experience of caring for the sheep. It was an honour for him when Samuel searched him out to name and anoint him king (1 Sam.16). This was an honour he never anticipated but he accepted the responsibility of this position. David had the pleasant experience of GodÂ’s wondrous works when he came face to face with the giant Goliath (1 Sam.17). David experienced GodÂ’s protection when Saul pursued him, and was even able to spare SaulÂ’s life when he had an opportunity to kill him (1 Sam.24). He had experienced GodÂ’s forgiveness after he cheated Uriah of his wife Bathsheba (2 Sam.11-12; Ps.51). David knew GodÂ’s wondrous deeds in abundance.
